Kathy Taylor's Decision Creates "Wild West" in the GOP

"Republican Party Elephant" logoImage via Wikipedia

Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor's decision not to seek re-election, has suddenly changed the race for the GOP nomination. Taylor, though unpopular with many Tulsans, was seen as unbeatable, prior to this surprising announcement. Last week, it looked like no one from within the GOP wanted challenge her, and her "Million Dollar War Chest". Now, with her out of the race, it looks like every, "I'm retired from politics", "my wife couldn't put up with another run", I'm happy where I am" Republican inside the city limits, is suddenly chomping at the bit, to be Mayor!

City Councilor Bill Christiansen said "I'm strongly considering it and very likely to run for mayor."

"I've been interested," said Jim Williamson, a Republican and former state senator. "I wasn't going to run against (Taylor), but I may look at it now."

Republicans who were reticent to challenge Taylor, now seem almost eager to throw their hats into the ring.
Besides Christiansen and Williamson, City Councilors G.T. Bynum, Rick Westcott and Bill Martinson and former City Councilors Dewey Bartlett Jr. and Chris Medlock all say they will at least consider the race. Even former City Councilor Susan Neal and former Mayor Bill LaFortune are more cautious but didn't rule out campaigns.

Bynum said he is being encouraged to run by a number of people throughout the community, which has him looking at the possibility.

Westcott said he's always done what he believes is in the best interest of Tulsa.

"The determining factor for me on this race is whether it is best for the city that I continue to serve as a councilor or mayor," he said. "I haven't yet figured that out."

Martinson said he isn't ruling out a bid for the seat, but for now is focusing on getting a city budget approved.

Medlock, an unsuccessful mayoral candidate in 2006, said he owes it to his supporters to consider the race.

"My phone has been ringing off the hook the last 24 hours," he said. "I've had Facebook messages. I've had people asking me for yard signs. Out of respect for those people, I have to at least give it consideration."

And then there is the man who has the Courage of His Convictions, and had already announced he was running, and was willing to take on Taylor's Big Money backers, Clay Clark.
Clark is a newcomer to the Tulsa political scene, and has been quickly gaining support amongst the "grassroots" and Tea Party crowds, with his message of "Smaller Government = Bigger Wallets" and "The Fight Against Socialism Starts in Tulsa" message. Clark is a two-time SBA Entrepeneur of the Year, due to his work in founding and running Tulsa's DJ Connections. Clark's message of common sense and Conservative Values, resonates with the same people who stand strong on Constitutional Principles, and the Christian Values, that our Nation was founded on.

His critics, and opponents, will point to his lack of experience in public office. But look around at the candidates running against him, do we really want more of the same, from the same old candidates? I say it's time for more Clay Clarks to stand up, and run for major office. Who says you have to start in a low-level post, and work your way through it? That may be the accepted method, but the accepted method is very obviously BROKEN! What we do NOT need is more career politicians, looking for the next step up the ladder of politics.

Only two of these candidates have shown ANY support for the Tulsa Tea Party Movement, Chris Medlock, who spoke at the Tax Day Tea Party, and attended the first Tea Party on Feb 27, 2009, and Clay Clark, who attended the Tax Day Tea Party, and was inspired by that event to declare himself in for the Tulsa Mayoral Race, and will speak at the Flag Day Rally 'Round The Flag Tea Party on June 13th, 2009.

We can win this, and show all of the established politicians that we mean business! As of the writing of this Blog, Chris Medlock was leading in all three polls, with Clay Clark 2nd in 2 out of 3, and City Councilman Bill Christiansen garenering the 3rd most votes. Conservative politics have the lead, and Tulsa would be well served by either Medlock, or Clark. However, my pick for the GOP nomination is Clay Clark, because he will bring a new, fresh perspective to running Tulsa!

It's time that "We the People" became part of the process again, instead of just sitting on the sidelines, and watching the same group of people make the decisions for us! Get out there and VOTE FOR CLAY CLARK! Starting today in the surveys and polls placed on www.krmg.com and www.1170kfaq.com/patcampbell and on this page. Then at the primaries in September, and the Election in November!

Strong Conservative Candidates for Office

I am trying to compile a list of Strong Conservative candidates running for office throughout the country. I have added some that I know about to the Widget above.

If you know of any, please leave the info in the comments, including their website, and the name of their opponent for the office they are running for. If they are running against a RINO, or "Mushy Moderate", please add that in the comments as well!
I will add those to the survey on this page!

We need to put the support of the Tea Party behind as many Strong Conservative Candidates as we can.

I found some good links for tracking the Conservative rating of incumbents. Perhaps you can find some more links like these for me to add to this post!

Interesting statistics on US Senators and Representatives, that I found at www.govtrack.us

Statistics on State Legisators at The Oklahoma Constitution

Based on these statistics, we get a good idea of which currently sitting candidates fit the Tea Party ideals.

Should the Government be Doing More?

For those who believe that our Federal Government should be doing MORE to help the poor and underprivileged in America, I have compiled a list of demands to be presented to the President, and Congress, outlining what the Government can do...

We ask that the government undertake the obligation above all of providing citizens with adequate opportunities for employment and earning a living.

The activities of the individual must not be allowed to clash with the interests of the community, but must take place within its confines and for the good of all. Therefore, we demand:...an end to the power of the financial interests.

We demand profit sharing in big business.

We demand a broad extension of care for the aged.

We demand...the greatest possible consideration of small business in the purchases of the national, state and municipal governments.

In order to make possible to every capable and industrious [citizen] the attainment of higher education and thus the achievement of a post of leadership, the government must provide an all-around enlargement of our entire system of public education...We demand the education at government expense of gifted children of poor parents...

The government must undertake the improvement of public health -- by the greatest possible support for all clubs concerned with the physical education of youth.

[We] combat the...materialistic spirit within and without us, and are convinced that a permanent recovery of our people can only proceed from within on the foundation of The Common Good Before the Individual Good .

Now, before you go and start passing this around as MY idea, I think I should reveal the source of this list. This information came from the Nazi party platform adopted at Munich, February 24, 1920;Der Nationalsozialismus Dokumente 1933-1945, edited by Walther Hofer, Frankfurt am Main: Fischer Bucherei, 1957, pp. 29-31.

Now, we have all seen what happens when these ideas are take to their final conclusion. It turns into a class warfare, pitting the "poor" against the "rich" with no regard for how either of the two got into their situations.

I, for one, do not believe that the "rich" should be hated for being rich. Most have worked hard, and sacrificed many things in their lives to be successful, and deserve to enjoy the "fruits of their labor". Most poor people have taken the easy way out, not furthered their education, not worked hard, and are in the situation they are in, because they don't have any personal drive, and are waiting for someone to take care of them. Instead of punishing success and achievement, and rewarding laziness and failure, doesn't it make more sense to reward those who strive to better themselves, and to punish those who want to live of of others? We need to reform our welfare system, and make it impossible for someone to sit at home and live off of others. If a personis receiving Gov assistance, they MUST be made to either attend job training, or be enrolled in a work program. If the welfare recipient is recalcitrant, their benefits must be removed.

Having more than someone else is the result of Excellence, not theft. and having less is not because you were stolen from. Work is rewarded, sloth is punished! That is the moral and truly compassionate way.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. TEACH a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime!

If you believe that I am right, please pass this on to others. Tweet it, Share it, and comment on it!

Don't just complain about how unfair the world is, and how badly our government needs to change, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

And I Ask Again....

Wrong People OUT! RIGHT People In!

San Francisco Tea Party on April Fools Day - 15Image by Steve Rhodes via Flickr

Everyday I talk to someone who is fed up with the "government". But, nobody seems to have any idea what to do about it, other than "throw the bums out!" Well, that's a good place to start, but HOW do we go about doing that? Well, I have an idea.

  1. Get a list of everyone who voted for Bush Bailout (TARP), Stimulus, Housing Bailout 2008, or Housing Bailout 2009. Including Congress, Senate, Governors who accepted the $$, and State Reps & Senators who voted to accept it.
  2. Find out when their seat is coming up for reelection.
  3. Register to Vote as a Republican(can't change the Party from the Inside, if you're on the outside! And you can't complain about the type of candidates they put forth if you don't vote in the Primaries!)
  4. Find a viable, fiscal conservative candidate, and put ALL of the Tea Party resources behind them.
  5. VOTE FOR THE CONSERVATIVE CANDIDATE!
This needs to be done in EVERY DISTRICT IN THE COUNTRY! If the Tea Party Movement wants to actually have an effect, we MUST seek out candidates, instead of railing against "politicians"! There are candidates out there who do have ethics, morals, and a love for the Constitution, capitalism, and the American Dream! Find them! Find the "everyman" who has been inspired by the Tea Party Movement to run for office! Find the business owner, or minister, or construction worker, who has the Courage of Their Convictions, and is fed up with the guy we have in office now, and INVITE them to speak at a Tea Party Rally, or meeting! Have them set up booths to give out information, and meet the people. Give them links on your websites (or even WHOLE PAGES). Don't listen to the Party, and just take whichever candidate they want to cram down your throat! Make the Party listen, and run the person that you really want! It is time to step up, and take back control of our country!

Here are some links to the votes on the Bush Bailout(TARP), Stimulus, Housing Bailout 2008, and Housing Bailout 2009

Is Your Congressman Representing YOU with Their Vote?
DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!

Socialism, Fascism or Capitalism?

zooming in on the collectivist quadrantImage by neolibertariandotcom via Flickr

Which method of Government, and Society, would you prefer to live in? Let me define them for you.

  • socialism: "a theory or system of social organization which advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means or production, capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole"
  • fascism: "A governmental system with strong centralized power, permitting no opposition or criticism, controlling all affairs of the nation (industrial, commercial, etc.)"
  • capitalism : the social system in which all property is privately owned, and the government's function is restricted to the protection of individual rights.
As we can see, both Fascism and Socialism, favor the whole, over the individual. Centralizing power, and controlling the means of living. These are both versions of statism( forms of government in which the government is given complete or extensive control over the lives of its citizens.) Basically, Fascism allows individuals to "own" property, while telling them what they can, or cannot do with it, while Socialism puts ALL ownership under the government. Either way, the individual owner has no right to determine his own destiny. Choices in self-destination are limited to "do what the Government tells you" or "suffer the consequences".

There is no difference in principle between the fascists and the socialists, consider the following revealing quotations from various infamous Nazis and other fascists:

(Nazi party platform adopted at Munich, February 24, 1920;Der Nationalsozialismus Dokumente 1933-1945, edited by Walther Hofer, Frankfurt am Main: Fischer Bucherei, 1957, pp. 29-31).

Now, based on that, which do you think we are in the process of becoming? Or does it even matter? They are two sides of the same coin, and either way, are antithetical to the very ideals and principles that America was founded on! They demand that the entrepreneurial spirit of America give way to the collective.

We MUST NOT allow the failed policies of the fascism and socialism to take over our nation!
Stand UP! Pull your head out of the sand! Cry out against Entitlenments, and the Welfare state!
Refuse Government handouts, and "bait and switch" tax cuts for the poor, which penalize the people who produce, and give their wealth to those who won't work for their own betterment!

And I ask Again,
Do YOU Have the Courage of Your Convictions?

How Much Longer Does A Free America Have?

Every day, I come across new posts about Bills being proposed in Congress that basically strip away our Constitutionally guaranteed rights. I recently posted "Are you a Domestic Terrorist?" about the memos that have been coming out from various Government Agencies and think tanks, in which they label and define what they consider to be "dangerous, Right-wing extremism". This morning when I logged on, I came face to face with this

House Bill Aims to Strip “Rightwing Extremists” of Second Amendment Right
Rep Peter King of NY(D) has sponsored a bill "Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act of 2009".

That sounds like a great idea, doesn't it? Let's make it illegal to sell guns and explosives to terrorists! THAT will stop them! The only problem with that, is the fact that,

  1. We DON"T KNOW who the terrorists are!
  2. How many terrorists do you think buy their firearms and explosives at the local gun store, where they have to show ID, and go through a background check?
  3. It is ALREADY illegal to sell weapons to known criminals.
This Bill, if it becomes a Law, is aimed squarely at taking away the 2nd Amendment rights of Americans, who disagree with the Federal Government. The language has been left open to interpretation of who a "Dangerous Terrorist" is. We have already seen who the Department of Homeland Security is defining as a terrorist, and now we see how they are going to disarm the people. If you disagree with the Federal Government on taxes, abortion, euthanasia, "Gay Rights", socialized medicine, welfare, or the like, you can be branded a potentially dangerous terrorist, and they can forbid you to buy guns. This will automatically cause more "black market" gun sellers to start popping up, as otherwise law-abiding citizens try to exercise their 2nd Amendment Rights.

We are at a crossroads in the history of our nation. Never have our Constitutional Rights come under this many attacks, from so many directions! The conservatives in this country must UNITE NOW! Or we will have no opportunity to stop our nation from being taken over from the inside by our enemies! What are YOU doing to fight this? Quit screaming at your TV and Radio, and get involved! Write your Congressman and Senator, join a Political Activist group, run for local office, DO SOMETHING!

And again I ask,
Do YOU have the Courage of Your Convictions?

The Tea Party Platform

***************************************UPDATE*************************************

Found this posting: http://www.aboldstepback.com/ which adds an even clearer statement to this!

*************************************************************************************

These are a basis of ideals from many sources, and my own beliefs, that i believe should be the basis of the Tea Party Movement, and thereby, the Platform of whatever party claims to be conservative! (This means YOU GOP!)

  • All forms of government must abide by the boundaries set forth in state and federal constitutions. The 10th Amendment gives the State Legislatures, ALL rights not explicitly granted to the Federal Government. The Sovereignty of the States MUST be upheld!
  • All pork and earmarks in the stimulus, omnibus bills, and bailouts must be reversed and repealed. The national budget must be balanced. Spending cuts, not increased taxation should be used to balance the budget. Excessive national debt is generational theft, and stealing the future of our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We MUST have a Balanced Budget Amendment!
  • Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of happiness implies personal responsibility, not handouts, free-enterprise and capitalism, not government controlled economies. Some people choose to be irresponsible (and of course some fall on hard times due to circumstances), but it is not the responsibility of the general public, vis-a-vis government intervention, to guarantee or bailout irresponsibility and failure. Private individuals and organizations give out of compassion and generosity, not compulsion through taxation, laws, and pork barrel projects. NO MORE SOCIALIST WELFARE STATE PROJECTS!
  • ALL elected and appointed officials are under the employment and serve at the will of We the People. As Abraham Lincoln said, “Government of the People, by the People and for the People”. Neither major political party is “clean” on these issues. Both Democrats and Republicans have taxed excessively and neither have restrained the hand of government effectively. There are certainly individual representatives who have been faithful to their constituents and to the Constitution. However, too many are engaged in protecting their congressional positions and turf. The majority of government officials have insulated themselves from the people they serve, and hold themselves above the law. We are simply saying, “No, you aren’t above the law”. Stay within the Constitution, or we will retire you at the next election. Term Limits for ALL elected officials! NO MORE CAREER POLITICIANS!
  • America's boarder's MUST be protected! The illegal immigration issue must be addressed. NO AMNESTY for illegal immigrants. No more social services for illegal immigrants. Medical treatment in case of emergency only, and then immediate deportation upon recovery. 6 month residency requirement before the child born of a non-US citizen gets automatic citizenship status. No more late term pregnancies crossing the border just to have a child and gain citizenship. NO MORE ANCHOR BABIES!
  • No more dependence on foreign oil! We must start drilling our own oil, and building new refineries, in addition to researching viable alternatives to oil.
  • The Federal Reserve System must be ended, and the entire tax code must be revamped. TAX OUR MONEY ONCE, AND THEN LEAVE US ALONE! No more taxing our wages, taxing our spending, taxing our saving, taxing our living, and taxing our dying!
  • Repeal ALL gun control laws that infringe on the freedoms of LAW ABIDING citizens to bear arms.
  • Put a halt to ALL legislation, that infringes on Freedom of Speech, including, but not limited to the "Fairness Doctrine"
This is the platform that I would like to see. It's not perfect, nor does it cover EVERY hot button issue. But, these are ideals that, I believe, MOST can agree on. I call now for the Republican Party to adopt this platform, or one much like it, now, and quit sitting on the fence!

The gauntlet has been thrown! I ask again,

DO YOU HAVE THE COURAGE OF YOUR CONVICTIONS?
