What Does it Mean to be Conservative?

Got into a debate with a very liberal person on Twitter today, and it got me thinking. What does it mean to be Conservative? I call myself Conservative, and  say it with pride, and even a little chest-thumping, but what do I really mean by it? So, I decided to kind of define what Conservative means to me! So, without further ado......

A Conservative.....

  • believes the constitution is a moral guide to good govt, not just an historical document!

  • believes in the principles of Godly Government set forth by the Founding Fathers!

  • still believes in America and doesn't spend all of his time apologizing for being American!

  • "in God we Trust" & "We the People" & "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness"

  • personal responsibility, not entitlements, and handouts!

  • defending America's borders. protecting American Freedoms. STOPPING the expansion of bloated government spending!

  • REDUCING SPENDING, CUTTING TAXES, ENCOURAGING ACHIEVEMENT AND SUCCESS THRU HARD WORK & DEDICATION!

  • believing in American Dream, & working for it, NOT Waiting for a Government HANDOUT, OR to HIT THE LOTTO, and CALLING THE WEALTHY,"LUCKY"

That is what conservative is to me!
I AM A CONSERVATIVE! A FUNDAMENTAL, PENTECOSTAL, CHRISTIAN, FORMER SOLDIER, AND SMALL BUSINESS OWNER FROM A SMALL TOWN, WHO LOVES AMERICA!!!

Politics in Politics?

Did you know that politics is very political? As usual, what seems obvious, is something that also tends to slip past our conscious undestanding. Being new to the pooitical arena, and really wanting to see the best in people, I have made some mistakes. Turns out, not everyone can be trusted when it comes to politics! SURPRISE!!

I have apparently made enemies of several local political figures, because I don't play by the rules the way they want me to. I don't immediately crumble under when they apply pressure, just because they are "the media".

Early in the plannng stages of the April 15 Tea Party, we were approached by a local writer, and self-proclaimed Conservative news reporter, about helping us with the Tea Party. Not really knowing who he was, but being grateful for help, we agreed to meet with him. After spending a couple of hours meeting with him, there was a consensus among the members of the committee, that the writer did not fit with the group, nor with the ideals of the Tea Party. He was strongly opinionated against the only politicians in the area, who are acceptable to the Tea party ideas. In fact, he posted a scathing attack on one of our favorite Tea Party supporters!

When it was decided that he was not someone we wanted involved in the planning, he was initially conciliatory, but then, after the Tea Party, his reporting on the event was a less than stellar, and when I corrected his numbers, he reacted in typical, self-righteous, insider fashion.

Here is that conversation:
ME: ,
The only problem I have with your article, is the grossly under reported numbers. Official crowd estimates were 3200 at La Fortune, 2100 Downtown, and 1700 at Veteran’s Park. Your reporting of 300 at the Downtown Event is so far off as to be Laughable! I was at the first event in Veteran’s Park on Feb 27, and we had nearly 400 there! The crowd downtown in the Plaza was AT LEAST, 5 times that crowd. Please, correct the numbers, or quote your sources for the counts, so that they can be addressed.
His Reply:
Sometimes it is easy to see how little you know about media.

Thank you for your comments six days after the event.  If you will - please quote your sources for the April 15 attendance number (official count how and by whom) or would you like us to quote you by name in what could well appear to be an obviously self-serving estimate?   In all regards, Feb. 27 is not being discussed and please do not include those numbers in regard to April 15.

Someday soon I will write an analysis of the Tulsa events as I saw them and I will include some of the detail leading up to that day's activity.  Feel free to write by return mail for inclusion of any fact or opinion if you like and, if it is accurate/entertaining enough, I may include your comments.  In  particular, please explain your effort to "strong arm" KRMG and any background on my having "too many enemies to participate" in your effort.  Know that if you do not answer, I may still note that you were asked to explain.  You may or may not agree with the review once it is done, but I really don't care what you think.

My Reply:
I appreciate your continued “fair & balanced” reporting. There was no effort on my part to “strong arm” KRMG. If anyone has any questions of what happened they can read my blog at www.okteaparty.blogspot.com for my answers to the questions. I know that you will report whatever you want to about me, and the Tea Party, just like you did to Sally Bell, but I don’t care. You claim to be a News Reporter, but you are actually just another mostly left leaning blogger, who has marginalized himself with his rancor toward true conservatism.
His Reply:
Always nice to know where someone stands.  I quote who and what I want in the development of any news and or analysis - there is a difference between the two.  Insults are not advancing your cause so stop writing today.  In other words I know it will be hard as focused on control as you are, but shut up - it will be better for you in the long run.

This is my final reply. To ALL who would try to intimidate me, or bully me, know this:

I WILL NOT BE COWED BY YOUR SUPPOSED SUPERIORITY, JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE BEEN INVOVED IN POLITICS SINCE BEFORE I WAS BORN. THE CAREER POLITICIANS, AND THE "OLD GUARD" MEDIA ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM, AND ARE IN THE CROSSHAIRS OF THE TEAPARTY! THIS IS YOUR WARNING! WE ARE COMING FOR YOU, AND YOU WILL NO LONGER WIELD ANY POWER WHEN WE ARE FINISHED!

Yes, you may print this in it’s entirety. No, you may NOT pick and choose the parts you would like to use.

Thank you,

Jai Blevins

What the Tea Party Means to Me

I have been asked this question many times, since the First Tea Party in Tulsa on February 27, 2009,
"How did you get involved with the Tea Party?"
Well, I wasn't intending to be the organizer, and I am not some "Great Leader", I am just an American Patriot, who woke up one day, and realized that my country was being taken over by the very thing that I had joined the Army out of high school to fight against! We were slowly being made into a Socialist nation, through the passing of legislation, and the manipulation of our economy, and it seemed like there was no end in sight! First President Bush, and TARP, then the "Stimulus" Package was passed with little, to no review or debate, and finally, the mortgage bailout. I didn't know what to do, but I knew something had to be done!
 Then I saw this:
And I was moved to action by these words! This video spread like "WILDFIRE" on Twitter, and people like the TCOT (TopConservativesonTwitter) started talking about doing Tea parties in cities around the country. So I asked,
"Is anyone doing one in Tulsa? I would like to help!"
For three days, I kept "tweeting" that question. Then, on Sunday, I received the response,
"Why don't YOU organize one!"
My initial response was, "NO WAY!" But, then I started thinking about it. "Why not?"  I thought, "How hard can it be?"  So, I decided to go ahead and try. I called the Tulsa Parks Department, and got permission to use Veteran's Park.  So, I had a venue, but noone to speak at it, and no way to get the word out. that's when several fantastic people contacted me, and pointed me in the right direction. I finally ended up with a good lineup of speakers, and some much needed help from local Talk Radio Station KRMG, and their morning host Joe Kelley. Now, we just had to wait and see if anyone would come out! The weather had been beautiful all week, but Friday morning came, and the wind chill was 15 degrees! I thought we were sunk! I arrived about an hour early at the Park, and already there were 10-15 people there with signs, and sign making materials, to help us get started. By the time we started, there were over 200 people there, and by the end, we had close to 400! I was amazed at the phenomenal turnout, and support! Nationwide, over 50 cities, with nearly 30,000 people, had started something that would begin to grow!

What Now?
That was the question after that modest success, and I immediately turned my attentions on
organizing the next rally, set for April 15th, Tax Day. Now, other cities were waking up, and
climbing on board! Conservative groups all across the nation began promoting the teaparties,
and eventually, National Talk Radio caught on! Locally, a different conservative Talk Radio station,
KFAQ 1170, jumped on board, and began promoting the teaparty heavily. Eventually even bringing
in a National Talk Radio Host, John Gibson, of Fox News. KRMG also promoted another Tea Party in
another part of town. We also added an evening event, anding up with three locations in Tulsa.
This was all WAY too much for me, so I asked for, and got, volunteers to form an organizing committee.
We set about getting things set up, including a website. www.tulsateaparty.org
The Tax Day Tea Party was a HUGE Success! Between the three locations, we ended up with over 7000
people attending!
Now, we ask the question again:
What's Next?
I believe that this movement must now begin to bring into focus, what we believe in, and begin
finding, or spawning, candidates for office that TRULY believe in these principles!

1) All forms of government must abide by the boundaries set forth in state
and federal constitutions.

2) All pork and earmarks in the stimulus, omnibus bills, and bailouts must
be reversed and repealed. The national budget must be balanced. Spending
cuts, not increased taxation should be used to balance the budget.

3) Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of happiness implies personal
responsibility, not handouts, free-enterprise and capitalism, not government
controlled economies. Some people choose to be irresponsible (and of course
some fall on hard times due to circumstances), but it is not the
responsibility of the general public, vis-a-vis government intervention, to
guarantee or bailout irresponsibility and failure. Private individuals and
organizations give out of compassion and generosity, not compulsion through
taxation, laws, and pork barrel projects.

4)ALL elected and appointed officials are under the employment and serve at
the will of We the People. As Abraham Lincoln said, “Government of the
People, by the People and for the People”.

5) Excessive tax burdens kill prosperity.

6)Excessive national debt is generational theft, and stealing the future of
our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

7)Neither major political party is “clean” on these issues. Both Democrats
and Republicans have taxed excessively and neither have
restrained the hand of government effectively. There are certainly
individual representatives who have been faithful to their constituents and
to the Constitution. However, too many are engaged in protecting their
congressional positions and turf. The majority of government officials have
insulated themselves from the people they serve, and hold themselves above
the law. We are simply saying, “No, you aren’t above the law”.  Stay within
the Constitution, or we will retire you at the next election.

8 ) The American public at large is ignorant of the purpose of government,
the founding documents such as the Declaration of Independence, the
Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Federalist Papers. As a result,
they allow politicians to sell them false hope and “rights” and
“entitlements” that are not guaranteed by the Constitution.   By educating
the American people on the foundations of our history, we hope to bring
sanity to the election and legislative processes.

9)As a group, we are appalled at the audaciousness and arrogance of our government in the last few years, particularly the proposals and billspassed in the last few months, despite massive public disapproval.

The Tea Party is a wake-up call to all Americans!

I can tell you what the principles are, but who are the candidates? Who is going to step into the gap, and
challenge the status quo? Who is going to take the risk, and invest the time, and effort, and
personal sacrifice, to run for office against the career politicians who currently dominate the
landscape? Who has the COURAGE of their CONVICTIONS? I ask again
"Who has the COURAGE of their CONVICTIONS?!?"

The Origins of Liberals and Conservatives

Humans originally existed as members of small bands of nomadic hunters/gatherers. They lived on deer in the mountains during the summer and would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in the winter.

The two most important events in all of history were the invention of beer and the invention of the wheel. The wheel was invented to get man to the beer. These were the foundation of modern civilization and together were the catalyst for the splitting of humanity into two distinct subgroups:

            1. Liberals, and

            2. Conservatives.

Once beer was discovered, it required grain and that was the beginning of agriculture. Neither the glass bottle nor aluminum can were invented yet, so while our early humans were sitting around waiting for them to be invented, they just stayed close to the brewery. That's how villages were formed.

Some men spent their days tracking and killing animals to B-B-Q at night while they were drinking beer. This was the beginning of what is known as the Conservative movement

Other men who were weaker and less skilled at hunting learned to live off the Conservatives by showing up for the nightly B-B-Q's and doing the sewing, fetching, and hair dressing. This was the beginning of the Liberal movement.

Some of these Liberal men eventually evolved into women. The rest became known as girlie-men. Some noteworthy Liberal achievements include the domestication of cats, the invention of group therapy, group hugs, and the concept of Democratic voting to decide how to divide the meat and beer that conservatives provided.

Over the years Conservatives came to be symbolized by the largest, most powerful land animal on earth, the elephant. Liberals are symbolized by the jackass.

Modern Liberals like imported beer (with lime added), but most prefer white wine or imported bottled water. They eat raw fish but like their beef well done. Sushi, tofu, and French food are standard liberal fare. Another interesting evolutionary side note: most of their women have higher testosterone levels than their men. Most social workers, personal injury attorneys, journalists, dreamers in Hollywood and group therapists are liberals. Liberals invented the designated hitter rule because it wasn't fair to make the pitcher also bat.

Conservatives drink domestic beer, mostly Bud. They eat red meat and still provide for their women. Conservatives are big-game hunters, rodeo cowboys, lumberjacks, construction workers, firemen, medical doctors, police officers, corporate executives, athletes, members of the military, airline pilots and generally anyone who works productively. Conservatives who own companies hire other conservatives who want to work for a living.

Liberals produce little or nothing. They like to govern the producers and decide what to do with the production. Liberals believe Europeans are more enlightened than Americans. That is why most of the Liberals remained in Europe when conservatives were coming to America. They crept in after the Wild West was tamed and created a business of trying to get more for nothing.

Here ends today's lesson in world history:

It should be noted that a Liberal may have a momentary urge to angrily respond to the above before forwarding it.

A Conservative will simply laugh and be so convinced of the absolute truth of this history that it will be forwarded immediately to other true believers and to more liberals just to tick them off.

And there you have it. Let your next action reveal your true self.

PLEASE, NO HATE MAIL FROM LIBERALS! THIS IS JUST A JOKE! SERIOUSLY, GET A SENSE OF HUMOR!

Tulsa Tax Day Tea Parties A Huge Success!!

The Tax Day Tea Parties had a fantastic turnout yesterday! Crowd estimates totaled about 7000 between the three locations!

The Downtown Tea Party at the County Courthouse Plaza was about 2100, with John Gibson from Fox News Headlining the speakers, and KFAQ's Pat Campbell as the emcee.

The La Fortune Park Tea Party had approximately 3200, with Joe Kelley from KRMG acting as emcee, and Congressman John Sullivan headlining.

The Veteran's Park Tea Party had about 1700, with KFAQ's Bruce Delay as emcee, and State Senator Randy Brogdon headlining.

All three events were terrific, grassroots built protests, with many speakers, most of which are just everyday citizens, who have decided that ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!

Special thanks goes out to Cris Kurtz, for heading up the La Fortune Park Tea Party, Tricia La Count, for handling the administration, and fundraising for both the Downtown, and Veteran's Park Tea parties, Nancy Parsons, for handling the "Voice of the People" emails, Bland Bridenstine, for handlng the organizing  of the Photography (go to http://blandosphotos.ning.com to see photos, or post your own), Crystal Simmons, for handling website duties and design, Jane Whitby, & Dawn Blevins for handling sign ups for the tulsateaparty.org email list, Scott Wheeler for transporting our stage to and from the events, Tristan LaCount for playing our "all wet" IRS man, and Jumpman Party Rentals for donating the Dunk Tank.

There were countless others, who donated their time, money, and abilities, whom I don't personally know, but all deserve a hearty "thank you!"

It was my privilege to be a part of the Tulsa Tea Party, and I can't wait to see what happens at the next one!

Is America Already Practicing Communism?

No WAY! That's the first reaction most of us have, when we read that statement. "This is America! Land of the Free, Home of the Brave! We're not Commies!" Well, I came across an interesting read today, and i am going to post it here, in it's entirety, and you decide!

ARE Americans practicing Communism?

Read the 10 Planks of The Communist Manifesto to discover the truth and learn how to know your enemy...

Karl Marx describes in his communist manifesto, the ten steps necessary to destroy a free enterprise system and replace it with a system of omnipotent government power, so as to effect a communist socialist state. Those ten steps are known as the Ten Planks of The Communist Manifesto… The following brief presents the original ten planks within the Communist Manifesto written by Karl Marx in 1848, along with the American adopted counterpart for each of the planks. From comparison it's clear MOST Americans have by myths, fraud and deception under the color of law by their own politicians in both the Republican and Democratic and parties, been transformed into Communists.

Another thing to remember, Karl Marx in creating the Communist Manifesto designed these planks AS A TEST to determine whether a society has become communist or not. If they are all in effect and in force, then the people ARE practicing communists.

Communism, by any other name is still communism, and is VERY VERY destructive to the individual and to the society!!

The 10 PLANKS stated in the Communist Manifesto and some of their American counterparts are...

1. Abolition of private property and the application of all rents of land to public purposes.
Americans do these with actions such as the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution (1868), and various zoning, school & property taxes. Also the Bureau of Land Management (Zoning laws are the first step to government property ownership)

2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.
Americans know this as misapplication of the 16th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, 1913, The Social Security Act of 1936.; Joint House Resolution 192 of 1933; and various State "income" taxes. We call it "paying your fair share".

3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance.
Americans call it Federal & State estate Tax (1916); or reformed Probate Laws, and limited inheritance via arbitrary inheritance tax statutes.

4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.
Americans call it government seizures, tax liens, Public "law" 99-570 (1986); Executive order 11490, sections 1205, 2002 which gives private land to the Department of Urban Development; the imprisonment of "terrorists" and those who speak out or write against the "government" (1997 Crime/Terrorist Bill); or the IRS confiscation of property without due process. Asset forfeiture laws are used by DEA, IRS, ATF etc...).

5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly.
Americans call it the Federal Reserve which is a privately-owned credit/debt system allowed by the Federal Reserve act of 1913. All local banks are members of the Fed system, and are regulated by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) another privately-owned corporation. The Federal Reserve Banks issue Fiat Paper Money and practice economically destructive fractional reserve banking.

6. Centralization of the means of communications and transportation in the hands of the State.
Americans call it the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Department of Transportation (DOT) mandated through the ICC act of 1887, the Commissions Act of 1934, The Interstate Commerce Commission established in 1938, The Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Communications Commission, and Executive orders 11490, 10999, as well as State mandated driver's licenses and Department of Transportation regulations.

7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the state, the bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.
Americans call it corporate capacity, The Desert Entry Act and The Department of Agriculture… Thus read "controlled or subsidized" rather than "owned"… This is easily seen in these as well as the Department of Commerce and Labor, Department of Interior, the Environmental Protection Agency, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, Bureau of Mines, National Park Service, and the IRS control of business through corporate regulations.

8. Equal liability of all to labor. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture.
Americans call it Minimum Wage and slave labor like dealing with our Most Favored Nation trade partner; i.e. Communist China. We see it in practice via the Social Security Administration and The Department of Labor. The National debt and inflation caused by the communal bank has caused the need for a two "income" family. Woman in the workplace since the 1920's, the 19th amendment of the U.S. Constitution, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, assorted Socialist Unions, affirmative action, the Federal Public Works Program and of course Executive order 11000.

9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries, gradual abolition of the distinction between town and country, by a more equitable distribution of population over the country.
Americans call it the Planning Reorganization act of 1949 , zoning (Title 17 1910-1990) and Super Corporate Farms, as well as Executive orders 11647, 11731 (ten regions) and Public "law" 89-136. These provide for forced relocations and forced sterilization programs, like in China.

10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children's factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production.
Americans are being taxed to support what we call 'public' schools, but are actually "government force-tax-funded schools " Even private schools are government regulated. The purpose is to train the young to work for the communal debt system. We also call it the Department of Education, the NEA and Outcome Based "Education" . These are used so that all children can be indoctrinated and inculcated with the government propaganda, like "majority rules", and "pay your fair share". WHERE are the words "fair share" in the Constitution, Bill of Rights or the Internal Revenue Code (Title 26)?? NO WHERE is "fair share" even suggested !! The philosophical concept of "fair share" comes from the Communist maxim, "From each according to their ability, to each according to their need! This concept is pure socialism. ... America was made the greatest society by its private initiative WORK ETHIC ... Teaching ourselves and others how to "fish" to be self sufficient and produce plenty of EXTRA commodities to if so desired could be shared with others who might be "needy"... Americans have always voluntarily been the MOST generous and charitable society on the planet.

Do changing words, change the end result? ... By using different words, is it all of a sudden OK to ignore or violate the provisions or intent of the Constitution of the united States of America?????

The people (politicians) who believe in the SOCIALISTIC and COMMUNISTIC concepts, especially those who pass more and more laws implementing these slavery ideas, are traitors to their oath of office and to the Constitution of the united States of America... KNOW YOUR ENEMY ...Remove the enemy from within and from among us.

None are more hopelessly enslaved, as those who falsely believe they are free...

So, you think you're FREE? You think we still live in a Free Republic of Government "of the People, by the People, for the People?" If so, we are only still hanging on by a thread, and the Liberals in Congress (Democrat and Republican), and President Obama have set FIRE to that thread! Our only hope is to get the attention of the Elected officials, and make them listen, or we may not have ANY FREEDOMS left!
Go to a TeaParty Rally near you, Let Your Voice be Heard! Make them pay attention to the sheer numbers of those who have reached the Breaking Point, and are fed up with watching the country we love be stolen from us by a bunch of Marxists, who have initiated a war on achievement, and only care about maintaining their own positions of power, and NOT what is right for this country, or their constituents!

Right must Unite! or the Left has Already Won!

This may come as a surprise to some of you, but the Tea Party on Feb 27, 2009, was the first event that I had EVER been involved in organizing. It was a lot of fun, but I only had 4 days, so there were not a lot of expectaions, either. It turned out to be SO much more than anything I imagined it would be. Thanks to many very helpful people, it turned out to be a tremendous success. Afterwards, I ended up with invitations to join, or speak to, many different groups, and really, got the "star treatment", which was, I must admit, FUN!

But, soon after, I returned to my full time job, and started to plan the Tax Day Tea Party, that is coming up next week. At first, I thought it would be easier, because I had so much more time to do it.

BUT......and there is always a but that follows a statement like that, isn't there? BUT, it slowly began to dawn on me that there would be much greater expectations from an event that actually had time to be planned, and, I still wanted to make sure we were doing it at the same time as other cities across America, so we had planned it for April 15th, Tax Day. Also WEDNESDAY. In other words, a WORK DAY! In the middle of the week, no less.

So, immediately the complaints, and suggestions started coming in.

"Have it on Saturday"...we wanted the national attention, and symbolism of Tax Day.

"Have it someplace besides downtown!"...Downtown is central to the whole area, plus MANY people work downtown, and can coume on their lunch break. And, we'll have one in S. Tulsa, too!
So we scheduled on at LaFortune Park at noon, so people in that part of town could make it on their lunch break.

"Have it in the Evening" ....Ok, we'll do one in the evening, too! That will give more people the opportunity to come, and give us an opportunity to educate more people about the Tea Party Movement, and our need for smaller gov't, lower taxes, and a return to the values of our Founding Fathers, as put forth in the Constitution.

Now, just to get the media, and the speakers.  Emails and phone calls are only returned by the same 2 radio stations as before....KRMG & KFAQ. KFAQ asks to be part of the event this time, instead of just reporting from the sidelines, and is even willing to be billed under KRMG. All they want is to be part of the movement. KRMG is offered the same role they had in the previous event, and they refuse, because they don't want to work with KFAQ.  AUUURRRGHGHH!! Some ugliness, and bickering ensued, but we ended up with a pretty good amount of coverage for all events.

Finally, everything should be great, RIGHT?....WRONG!!

Now for the speakers! We got a the speakers lined up, and posted them on the website
along with links to several other events around the state.

Then the emails started coming in, "we don't like so and so, because (fill in the blank)"

Some don't want ANY politicians. But, the whole purpose of the Tea Party is to get our elected officials to listen to us.

Some don't like a particular group, for any number of reasons, ranging from "not conservative enough" to "way too far Right". But, ALL of the groups coming out have openly expressed their support for the 3 major tenets of the Tea Party. Smaller Gov't, Less Taxes, and The Constitutional Values of the Founding Fathers. So, there's no reason to be fighting over one or the others commitment to ALL of the ideals that the others have. If they did share all of the same ideals, they wouldn't be separate groups!

I guess, there's no way to make everyone happy, so we are just going to stick to the Tea Party ideals, and hope everyone gets on board.

Because, if we can't put aside our differences, and focus on our shared beliefs, the Left are going to continue to take away our freedoms, and destroy this Republic that we all Love so dearly. The only way to defeat communism is to unite against it!

TeaParty Music!

This is a list of links to songs about or for the TeaParty, and others that fit the idea.

If you have anymore, please add them to the comments section!

Tulsa Tea Party Speakers

Here is the list of speakers for the teaparty events, so far.

John Gibson, National Talk Show Host, heard 12-2 Monday- Friday on KFAQ 1170am, is confirmed for the Downtown Event!! He will be doing both his radio show, as well as, cut ins for Fox News!

Pat Campbell from KFAQ 1170am in Tulsa, will be emceeing the Downtown Event.

Radio Rivalries Split TeapartyMovement in Tulsa

I am finding more and more, as I delve into grassroots political organzing, that their are a LOT of politics in politics. This person within ths party doesn't like that person within the party. This conservative talk show host, doesn't like that conservative blogger. It really is a tightrope act, trying to get all of these groups on the same page!

It gets even tougher, when one of the local conservative radio stations decides it doesn't want to work with the other conservative radio station on the coverage of the events.

For the first Teaparty on Feb 27, 2009, Joe Kelley and KRMG radio in Tulsa were fantastic in helping to promote the event. Joe even acknowledged the presence of the competition, KFAQ's Chris Medlock, in one of the classiest moves I have ever seen.

However, for the upcoming TaxDay Teaparty, KFAQ was the more aggressive of the 2 stations in contacting me, and trying to get the word out. They scheduled one of their National TV & Radio hosts, John Gibson, for the Downtown rally from 11-1, and scheduled their drive time local host for the 5-7 event in Veteran's Park. Brian Gann of KFAQ also asked me if KRMG would be participating again, and I said "I hope so." I then contacted Joe Kelley, and asked him to reprise his role as emcee, and his first question for me was " is KFAQ going to be there?" I replied in the affirmative, and he said he would get back to me. I then was sent a message to contact Drew Anderssen, the KRMG Program Director. Mr Anderssen's stance was "we don't want to work with KFAQ on this. Why should we let KFAQ talk to our audience?" Needless to say I was disappointed. He said that they would probably braodcast from the South Tulsa TeaParty at la Fortune Park, to which I replied "Ok, great!" He assured me, however, that they would also let everyone know that there were multiple events going on in the Tulsa area. The conversation ended on what I thought was a relatively positive note, and I thought things had worked out pretty well.

Then, just last night, I heard KRMG's TeaParty ad, and I was dumbfounded! The ad starts out bragging about Tulsa being on the leading edge when it came to the Nationwide Teaparty movement, which we were, so that was cool. But, the next part of the ad is where KRMG started basically taking credit for the first TeaParty, and then ending with an invite to THE Tulsa TeaParty at La Fortune Park, and no mention AT ALL of any other events in town.

Joe Kelley's response, when confronted on Twitter, was @BATCOT Not sure how any of this effects you...

How disingenous can you get! KRMG has taken the TeaParty, and made it about it's petty little radio rivalry with KFAQ, instead of about the largerpicture of what is going on in our country!

As I Told Joe Kelley & KRMG, "you have lost a listener, and I wll never do business with you again. when this is over, i will still be here for the next teaparty"

Route 66 TeaParty

Meet In the Middle Tea Party”
Hundreds Prepare to Gather in Protest of Government Spending

MIAMI, OK – Following the lead of CNBC’s Rick Santelli’s call for a Tea Party, Meet in the Middle is hosting its own at the Riverview Park on Route 66 in Miami, OK. The Tea Party will take place at 11:00am to 1:00pm on April 15th and simultaneously with hundreds of tea parties in cities across the nation.

Meet in the Middle patriots will be protesting, along with many other organizations and national leaders, the fact that massive government spending and intrusion doesn’t work. "A la the 1773 Boston Tea Party, we’re fed up with the taxation and the government takeover brought on with the Stimulus Bill and the numerous other bailouts. There’s only one proven way to create jobs and that is by cutting taxes and wasteful spending" said Miki Booth, organizer of the Meet in the Middle patriotic event.

“American Solutions has partnered with the tax day tea party movement to develop a real protest on April 15th, a protest against big government, wasteful spending and fraud.” said Newt Gingrich, General Chairman for American Solutions. “I believe that April 15th is a great day to remember historically that Americans have stood up against bad government, they’ve stood up against high taxes. And in our generation we can get back to creating jobs by doing just the same. Let’s have a tax day tea party everywhere in America. Let’s communicate with our leaders, we want you to fix it or we’re going to want new leaders.”

Miki Booth states, “We will be heard. The politicians have not been listening to us and we are fed up. If a Tea Party is what they need in order to listen to us, then a Tea Party is what they will get.”

OU TeaParty

My name is Tessa Breder and I'm currently serving as Chairman of the OU College Republicans. We're having a campus tea party Monday, April 13, 2009, at the University of Oklahoma.

Invitation: We would love to have ANYONE who is interested in attending--this is NOT limited to students. In other words, enraged citizens of all ages are encouraged to come out and join us. OU's Tea Party shares the same goal of gaining attention to protest the outrageous way in which our tax dollars are being spent, but also to promote the Oklahoma City Tea Party which will take place only two days later. We'll have some great speakers, too!

Many students are under the impression the current spending won't directly affect their generation, little do they know it will affect them more than anyone. I ask you to help us get this message out come rally behind this country was made to be run by "WE THE PEOPLE" and not THEM IN WASHINGTON!

Time: 10:00 a.m.

Location: "South Oval" of The University of Oklahoma's campus (the corner of Lindsey St. and Van Fleet Oval E.)

Parking: The Union parking garage is located at 900 Asp Avenue and is only a short walk north from the South Oval; There is also metered parking a little closer at the football stadium parking garage located near the corner of Asp Avenue and Lindsey Street. Parking will be tight just about everywhere but these will probably be the easiest to get into. Claim the first spot you find!

If you have any questions, concerns, or would like to help please contact Tessa Breder (405)226-1249 tessa.breder@gmail.com
